the SOM'S experience...

i always look forward on Friday's...not because the following day is Saturday (which literally means off from work..), probably i highly look on Friday night dinner with Oliver rather than any other justifiable reason. so last Friday, we went to this Thai resto in Maysilo, Mandaluyong to try something diverse and authentic (?)... actually we already passed this eatery on our way home but i insisted Oliver to make a second turn to Mandaluyong City Hall so we can parked duly and dine.

i happen to read OAP reviews on SOM's Noodle House two weeks ago so i got a little idea of what to order,

Spring Rolls P95.00, low-priced and heavily filled...

Pad Thai (Beef) P130.00, too spicy! but nothing extraordinary with this carte du jour...

this is my Oliver feeling sleepy about the place's concept and ambiance :)

we also ordered Green Curry (Pork was our choice) and Oliver say's "sauce pa lang ulam na" and 2 garlic rice....this is one authentic experience of Thai cuisine at a very reasonable price. well, we plan to go back and try a different set next time :)

reminiscin' old Talyer...

at the height of Piltel and Piltea days wayback 1997 most of us our avid patron of this "asylum", this was our domicile address after the 8am-5pm working schedule...our second home, our retreat house --TALYER! located just a few kms from Makati's CBD, situated at Estrella Sts. cor Lawaan Sts., Bgy. San Antonio...stood this hole in the wall bistro. the concept is nothing so fancy, few table set ups and long wooden chairs and stools, bob marley inspired theme, some old automobile parts hung on the interiors, smoky filled ambiance and gloomy incandescents...one could have mistaken this place a night club that serve up goo goo girls instead of beers but hey modest people frequent this place including us, of course! what you don't know about Talyer is they serve good starters at a very affordable price, fresh grilled seafoods and low-priced bottle of beers :)

Talyer had witnessed most of our birthdays, anniversaries, monthsaries, our failures and winnings, our aging, our becoming better persons, our dreams and our hope...i am humbly sharing some of our bubbly photo during our visit last oct 17, 2008....

friendly pics, addition to our memorablia :)

L-R: Rachelle (Pel's wifey), Pelagio, Gem, George & Elna

house specialty ensaladang manga (P80.00), crispy tenga (P100.00), huge serving of tokwa (P70.00) and San Mig Light (P30.00/bottle)...we also ordered for chicken ass, grilled Blue Marlin (P50.00/100gram) and Pork Sisig (P120.00).

proof of our friendship, 11 years ago...when life was much casual for all of us :)

going wacky and funny for a night don't hurt...it's a total relief for everything we have gone through and still facing up! -- Talyer had stood up for a decade and a half now, and still everytime we just need some time to recollect the good old times...we can't think of a perfect place other than this sanctuary!

Symbolic Gift?

come this Saturday, i will be atteding Jorrel's 7th Birthday at Beranda Cafe (Indang) and acc to my Ninang Elo i am part of the 7 symbolic gifts...oh my! this is one part of every occasion that i hate, being part of the program and the need to make a special public appearance :)

though, i still haven't figured out what will be the symbolic item i will be giving him.. i instantly bought a birthday present last Saturday at Kidz Station. it's a collection of miniature luxury cars from the Maisto brand, oh well Oliver loves this stuff also and had his own collection too. so, right now what i have in mind is to think of something that will make sense out of those cars... err, the wheel is so so descriptive..will probably concentrate on that in the next few hours :)
